Hitchcock believes the new coronavirus is not the fulfillment of prophesied events that will occur during the tribulation period but a foreshadowing of what's to come.

Though we can't know everything about the future, we can place these crises into a spiritual framework that will help us better understand what will happen one day. "From a health standpoint, COVID-19 is real and serious and should not be underestimated or minimized," Hitchcock writes. "But from a spiritual perspective, coronavirus affords us all a unique season to prepare for what lies ahead."
