From the preface:  Dr. Stripling states, "My goal throughout this book has been to establish synchronisms (connections) between the biblical text and the physical remains found in the archaeological record.  These connections form the basis for our Christian apologetics, that is, the defense of our faith.  While the apologetic aspect is obvious, the greatest benefit  to the faith community is the hermeneutical nature of the discipline.  In other words, the primary goal of Ancient Near Eastern Archaeology for the believer is to illuminate the background of the Bible and to set it in its proper context by drawing out the cultural clues that are embedded in the remains of material cultures.  Aling the way it will certainly prove many portions of the Bible, but it would be good to remember the words of Jesus in Luke 16:31, "If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be convinced even if someone rises from the dead."
